A man who crashed his Italian supercar into a tree reportedly told onlookers that he'd "buy another one tomorrow".
The unidentified motorist didn't seem particularly bothered that he'd smashed his Lamborghini Gallardo – estimated to be worth around £120,000 – into a tree, before destroying a concrete bollard close to a school in Leicester.

The force of the impact was such that the car lost one of its rear wheels, which flew off and narrowly missed a girl and her grandfather on their way to the school in the Beaumont Leys area.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: "As we came to the main road we heard a throaty roar which made us turn our heads and that's when we saw this exotic orange-coloured sports car come around the corner at speed.

"We were lucky really because the large wheel came bouncing through the air at about chest height barely 10ft away. If we were there just a couple of minutes earlier it could have been a different story.

"The kids were very, very scared but when the driver got out he was laughing and after a while started to boast that he would 'just go out and buy another one tomorrow'."

Thankfully no one was injured in the crash, though the Lamborghini is expected to need extensive repair work.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: "Police received a call to a report a single vehicle road traffic collision on Strasbourg Drive.

"There were no injuries for the driver and the road was closed at the junction with Krefield Way and Heachem Drive while the vehicle was recovered.

"We have concluded our enquiries and there have been no arrests."
