Two die in plane crash in Scotland

Two people died when their Piper Cherokee plane crashed in Argyll, Scotland, on Saturday.

Work is now under way to recover the victims of the light aircraft crash at the remote spot in the Beinn nan Lus area of Glen Kinglass.

Searchers discovered the wreckage on Saturday night at around 8pm after radar contact with the aircraft was lost at around 2pm, reports the Press and Journal.

According to the Scotsman, witnesses said "two rescue helicopters, coastguard mobile, two police cars and an ambulance" had taken part in the search after the plane went down.

Inquiries are continuing into the cause of the accident, which occurred during a flight between Dundee and Tiree.

Chief Inspector Fergus Byrne of Police Scotland told PA: "Specialist officers are at the scene and every effort is being made to recover the victims, investigate the circumstances then remove the wreckage of the plane.

"However the area is very remote and the crash site extensive and as such it will take a considerable amount of time to complete our work."
