A Germanwings plane flying from Hanover to Rome was forced to divert to Venice after a passenger suffered an apparent anxiety attack as the aircraft crossed the Alps.

The plane was carrying 145 passengers and five crew members at the time.

The passenger panicked two weeks after the tragedy that saw Germanwings flight 4U9525 crash into a mountain in the Alps, killing all 150 on board, report the Mirror.

According to the Daily Record, Eugenio Bartolini, a professor from Rome, said:

"When the plane landed (in Venice), the captain told us over the microphone, in English, that a crew member and passenger were unwell and so he decided to land at Marco Polo.

"Some health professionals came on the plane and gave assistance to a woman, who was said to have a fear of flying and to be apprehensive. I cannot tell what happened to the crew member, because he was in the cabin."

Flight 4U9525 was travelling from Barcelona to Dusseldorf when it crashed into the mountains killing all on board, including three Britons.

Experts have say the second black box found confirms the idea that co-pilot Andreas Lubitz deliberately crashed the plane, and repeatedly accelerated it as he flew into the French Alps.
