An executive chairman at RBS is quitting the bank after selfies he sent to his daughter showing how bored he was at work were exposed in The Sun newspaper.

Dubbed the "chairman of the bored", Rory Cullinan used instant messaging service Snapchat to send his daughter a number of selfies with captions such as: "Not a fan of board meetings xx", "Boring meeting xx" and "Another friggin meeting".

He probably expected the images to be automatically deleted by the app. But unfortunately his daughter Bridget, an 18-year-old student at Durham University, saved them and then posted them on Instagram from where they were picked up by The Sun.

According to online news service The Drum, Cullinan is now leaving RBS, where he became executive chairman of the corporate and institutional bank at the end of February, with immediate effect.

"I am pleased and proud to have played a significant part in restoring RBS to a safe and sound agenda over the past six years," he said. "I wish all my colleagues continued success."

Snapchat recently issued guidance for parents that told them to advise children against sending photos that could get them into trouble.

"It never hurts to remind kids never to snap photos that are illegal, could get them in trouble now or in the future, or would be embarrassing if seen by people like grandparents, future love interests or college admissions officers," the app said.

The guidelines also warned that although the Snaps expire, there are many means at users' disposal to save pictures such as taking a screen-shot, using an external cameras and through hacking.
