James Bond film crew in drunken riot on private jet

Members of the film crew for new James Bond movie Spectre were allegedly involved in a mid-air drunken riot on board a private plane to Mexico City.

The British film workers' behaviour is being investigated by producers after a safety pin was allegedly removed from one of the aircraft's doors, passengers vomited and urinated in the aisles, and disregarded the strict no-smoking rules on the flight from London Stansted to Mexico City on 18 March, The Mail on Sunday reports.

In a report to film production company Eon, charter airline Hi Fly added that cabin crew and other passengers were verbally abused.

A worker at Toluca airport in Mexico City told The Mail on Sunday that the airline had to pay for a specialist cleaning company at a cost of £1,000 after the film crew left the flight.

Hi Fly has agreed to fly them back to the UK but on the condition that no alcohol is served or consumed on board.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the incident was "under investigation" but The Mail on Sunday reports that it later denied this. Eon said it is "investigating the matter".

Around 150 of the film's crew were travelling to Mexico to film scenes for the latest Bond movie. Neither Daniel Craig nor other members of the cast were on board the private plane.

In January, plans to film a scene for Spectre at a 15th century bridge in Rome were to be scrapped after a row over the Ponte Sisto's religious significance.

Producers planned for 007 actor Daniel Craig to jump from a helicopter onto the bridge but residents campaigned against using the tourist attraction.

A film source told the Daily Mirror: "Some campaigners are concerned about damage to the bridge, which dates from the 1400s, others are upset over the religious connection.

"The bridge is said to be haunted by the ghost of Donna Olimpia Pamphili, Pope Innocent X's lover who crossed it each night on her way to his bed. Believers get quite upset by the prospect of disturbing spirits."
