Richard Hammond accidentally kills friend's peacock on hunting trip
Richard Hammond has been left "mortified" after accidentally shooting dead a friend's prized peacock on a pheasant hunting trip.
The Top Gear presenter, who is known to enjoy shooting, was on a hunt at the friend's estate when the incident occurred.
According to the Mirror, a source said: "Richard was incredibly embarrassed. He loves shooting and often goes out on the estate neighbouring his grounds.
"The guy who owns the estate also owns peacocks. One flew out and Richard just reacted. He was hugely apologetic."
Richard lives in a £2 million six-bedroom castle in Herefordshire and is a regular pheasant hunter.
The Independent reports that a representative for Richard is yet to confirm the shooting.
