Revealed: The best airports in the world 2015

Singapore's Changi Airport has been named the World's Best Airport for 2015 for the third year in a row.

The state-of-the-art airport was voted to the top position at the World Airport Awards, Channel News Asia reports.

South Korea's Incheon Airport and Germany's Munich Airport were runners-up, coming in at second and third place respectively.

The 2015 World Airport Awards were held at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Paris, France on Wednesday.

The awards were based on the results of 13.02 million air travel customer nominations of 550 airports across the globe.

Changi Airport also managed to scoop the award for Best Airport for Leisure Amenities and World's Best Airport Hotel, CNBC reports.

The multi-award winning airport boasts a butterfly garden with more 1,000 butterflies and an indoor waterfall as well as a movie theatre and entertainment deck.

Chief Executive of Changi Airport Group, Lee Seow Hiang, said: 'This recognition is particularly pleasing for us as it comes at a time of transformation at Changi Airport. We are undertaking a number of significant development projects including Terminal 4 and Jewel Changi Airport.'

Liew Mun Leong, Chairman of Changi Airport Group, told CNBC last July that Changi had 54 million passengers pass through the airport in 2013, far exceeding the original plans of 30 million.

Among the criteria rated were: check-in, transfers, security and immigration control.

Three European airports also made their way into the top ten with Munich in third place, London's Heathrow at number eight.
