A video shot by drones shows a huge sinkhole forming in the Russian city of Solikamskiy.

The snow-covered ground collapses just a few feet from dozens of houses, and is thought to be 330ft deep, reports the Mirror.

The paper says the sinkhole was formed after a Sylvinite ore colliery was flooded last November.

The Daily Telegraph reports that locals now fear a neighbouring pit connected to the collapsed one will get flooded too and collapse under their houses.

Locals reportedly believe that Russian authorities are hiding the risks of sinkholes in the region.

In other sinkhole news, last July a woman and her son were injured after their car was swallowed by a sinkhole in America.

Juanita Pineda, 41, and Benjamin Hernandez, 15, were driving along a dark road when their car fell into the three-metre pit in the road in Kane County.

NBC Chicago reports that as Juanita dialled 911, a truck drove over them after the driver did not see them.

And in April 2014, a young mother and her baby son were lucky to be alive after escaping from their house just seconds before it was swallowed up by a massive sinkhole in Kazakhstan.

Anastasia Tatarnikov, 28, thought she was running from an earthquake, but the sinkhole reportedly appeared as a result of mining work in the city of Ridder in eastern Kazakhstan.
