Niagara Falls freezes as extreme weather hits US
Extreme weather hitting the east coast of America has caused the Niagara Falls to partially freeze over.
Temperatures have reached as low as -14C, and hundreds of tourists enjoyed the amazing sight as Niagara's famous waterfalls froze.
Speaking to USA Today, Michelle Blackley, communications & community relations manager for the falls, said: "The attention the falls is receiving is bringing a crowd to view them in their majestic, winter splendour."
But while the harsh winter has brought some amazing scenes, it's also bringing misery for thousands of residents.
The Independent reports that the Weather Predition Centre is warning of a "historic cold" throughout eastern US on Friday, when the first polar vortex of the season is due to arrive.
And, according to the Metro, brutally cold weather stretching as far south as some parts of Florida has already caused a number of fatal road accidents and left swathes of the eastern seaboard without power.
Meanwhile, a number of people and news sites have taken to Twitter to show off pictures of the frozen Niagara.

One man, Canadian Will Gadd, has taken things just one step further and actually become the first to climb a frozen section of the Niagara Falls.
