Airports around the world have been ranked in a new poll based on customer service.

The Airports Council International (ACI) has just announced its 2014 Airport Service Quality Awards - and in the largest category, over 40 million passengers per year, the Incheon International Airport in Seoul, South Korea, has been named the best for customer service.

It was also, therefore, named as the best airport in the Asia-Pacific region.

In the Europe region, the top airport was named as the Keflavik International Airport in Iceland.

America's best? The Indianapolis International Airport in Indiana.

According to CNN, the ACI, a nonprofit organisation based in Montreal with 591 members operating 1,861 airports in 177 countries - surveyed 550,000 passengers prior to boarding their flights and asked them to rate their satisfaction with the airport that day.

Things they had to rate included airport access, check-in, security, shopping, food and drinks, and airport facilities.

The awards were presented in four different categories: Best airport by region; best airport by size; best small airport; and best improvement by region.

Seoul also came top in the 15 to 25 million passengers per year size, with the Gimpo International Airport, Seoul, South Korea, being named first.

The Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, India, was best in the 25 to 40 million passengers per year size, while the two to five million passengers top spot was taken by the Jose Joaquin de Olmedo International Airport in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
