Stowaway on London-bound flight caught after taking selfies in cockpit
A stowaway who sneaked onto a London-bound plane was discovered after taking selfies in the cockpit.
Claudiu-Gabriel Costin was caught out after airport staff in Cluj, north west Romania, noticed flashes coming from the grounded Wizz Air plane.
Costin initially said he had sneaked onto the plane in a bid to see his girlfriend in London, saying: "I haven't seen her for weeks now and I miss her very much so I decided that no matter what, I would go and see her."
But, according to the Metro, he later changed his story and said he'd met a pilot who lured him into the cockpit with the promise of sexual favours.
The airport dismissed this claim, however.
While he was waiting for the plane to take off, Costin decided to go into the cockpit to take selfies.
Officials are now investigating how he managed to get past security.
According to the Mirror, an airport spokesman said: "It was an evening flight and he was caught after security noticed his camera flash going off inside the cockpit.
"When they went to investigate they found the man inside.
"We are looking into the circumstances and how he managed to breach security, get onto the runway and climb aboard the plane without being noticed.
"There was clearly a lapse in security and this will be addressed and sorted out."
