After years of being encouraged to drive diesel vehicles through preferential tax rates due to their better CO2 performance, motorists are now finding themselves increasingly penalised by authorities who have woken up to the harmful environmental impact these cars cause. Now, a Labour minister has admitted the policy of promoting diesels was one of his party's biggest mistakes.
