Jordan Axani: Man who took stranger on world trip returns

A man who took a stranger on a round-the-world trip because she had the same name as his ex-girlfriend has returned. And there's one thing everybody wants to know: Was there any romance?

Um, apparently not. But the two had an amazing time by the sound of things.

After splitting up with his girlfriend Elizabeth Gallagher, Axani took to the internet and announced a search for a new Elizabeth Gallagher, who also had to be from Canada, to take her place on the non-transferable ticket.

Dozens of people applied but there could only be one. And the pair returned from their trip on Monday.

Elizabth 'Quinn' Gallagher, 23, already had a long-term boyfriend before the trip, and the pair are still together.

But Quinn and Jordan had a blast. According to the Daily Telegraph, she said: "We probably got along better because we were strangers. We didn't have a relationship to break."

They met for the first time in the departure lounge on 21 December in New York. They visited Milan, Venice, Vienna, Prague, New Delhi, Khao Lak in Thailand and Hong Kong.

Speaking to the BBC, Jordan said: "Quinn liked to see the [landmarks] of different areas, and I liked to mingle where the locals hang out. I hate heights and everywhere we went, she took me to the highest thing possible - whether it was the highest level of the Eiffel Tower, or the highest bar in Bangkok - and she'd poke fun at me for my fear of heights."

The pair said they had developed a brother-sister kind of relationship.

They tweeted a host of pictures from their travels.

Since returning, the pair have appeared on Canada's The Morning Show, and Ms Gallagher will now return to university.

But the big news? There might not have been romance, but they have started a charity together, A Ticket Forward (aticketforward.org) which helpe organise holidays for survivors of war, abuse and disease.
