One Direction star Liam Payne has bought himself a new house - along with another for his parents and sisters.

His own new pad will be a £5.1 million mansion in Surrey. But at the same time, the pop star, who was brought up in a modest £150,000 three-bed semi-detached house in Wolverhampton, has bought a new home for his parents in the same area.

Liam had previously been living in a 34th-floor flat in London's Docklands - where he apologised last year after being photographed balancing on a dangerous ledge outside.

The 21-year-old singer's new home near Woking won't give him that opportunity - it's only three storeys high. But the grand home is said to have stunning views and feature an all-weather tennis court and heated outdoor swimming pool. Inside, it houses a cinema, a 700-bottle wine cellar and even a ballet studio.

A sophisticated security system means that the star and his girlfriend Sophia Smith should be able to keep their distance from the thousands of fans that made One Direction's 2014 tour the highest-grossing of the year.

"The security is insane," a source tells the Sun. "Every part of the house and grounds are in camera isolation zones, many heat and motion monitored."

Meanwhile, Liam hasn't forgotten his family, buying a £400,000 house near his old childhood home for his father Geoff, mother Karen and older sisters Nicola and Ruth late last year. The family's believed to have already moved in.

But the two properties together represent less than a year's earnings for Liam. Figures filed with Companies House show that the band recorded a turnover of £49.1 million in 2013, with each band member drawing pay of £5.6 million. That's more than twice their earnings in the previous year.

Heat magazine recently named One Direction as the UK's riches young celebrities, with a massive £77.52 million between them.

One Direction - which also includes Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson - was formed during the 2010 X Factor competition. While the band is believed to have earned a massive £180 million from its last tour, they are no doubt aware that fame can be fickle, making Liam's property deals a savvy investment.
