Man stuck 80ft in the air after zip wire ride malfunctions

A Canadian tourist had to be rescued from a Las Vegas zip wire after getting stuck 80ft in the air when the attraction malfunctioned.

The man was freed from the Fremont Street Experience's SlotZilla zip line after nearly an hour of dangling in the air.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Timothy Szymanski told NBC News that the man was not injured.

The attraction gave the man and his wife, who made it to the end of the zip line, a full refund and offered him dinner at a local restaurant.

According to CTV News, company spokeswoman Lauren Silverstein said: "Fremont Street Experience is investigating what happened and will do everything to ensure that this problem will not happen again."

SlotZilla staff initially told firefighters that they could rescue the man but eventually asked firefighters to reach him with their truck's ladder.

Earlier this week, around a dozen riders had to be rescued from the Harry Potter ride at Universal Studios in Florida.

Theme park officials said a technical glitch "caused the ride to come to a safe stop."

Firefighters said they rescued 12 to 15 riders from the Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride.
