Man arrested over 2003 death of British tourist
Spanish police have arrested a man in connection with the death of a British tourist back in 2003.
The 45-year-old Romanian man is suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run 11 years ago.
He was arrested at Malaga airport on 29 November after a long and involved investigation, reports Euro Weekly News.
The British tourist had been out jogging in the Andalusian town of Antequera in April 2003, when he was knocked down.
The 40-year-old was found on the side of the road with multiple injuries. He had been staying with his partner in a local hotel.
According to thelocal.es, police are not yet sure whether the man was the driver of the car, as other passengers were thought to be travelling in the vehicle.
Back in 2012, a British man, on holiday in the Costa de Sol resort of Benalmádena, was killed by a hit-and-run driver.
Typically Spanish reported that the body of the 26-year-old man from Bolton, Lancs, was found by police on a routine patrol.
The accident took place on the avenida Antonia Machado. The man is thought to have died instantly, with his body showing injuries which suggested he had been run over. Police say he also appeared to have hit a balustrade, which runs along the roadside.
