Plane changes flight number after psychic warns of crash

TAM Airlines reportedly changed one of its flight numbers - after a celebrated psychic predicted it would crash.

Jucelino Nobrega da Luz claims to have predicted the deaths of Princess Diana and Ayrton Senna.

According to news.com.au, he told authorities that flight JJ3720, set to depart on Wednesday 26 November from Sao Paulo to Brasilia, would develop engine trouble and crash on Sao Paulo's Paulista Avenue.

Bosses at the airline are said to have then changed the flight number to JJ473 after the warning.

However, the Daily Telegraph reports that a local newspaper said the airline denied the change in flight number was as a result of the warning from the clairvoyant.

And the publication also pointed out that the flight does not fly over the Paulista Avenue.

According to TNT magazine, Jucelino more recently prophesied the death of Brazilian presidential candidate Eduardo Campos in a plane crash in August.

However, some of his other predictions, like a vaccine for AIDS being discovered in 2008, have proved wrong.

Meanwhile, the NY Post reports that airline number superstition is not an uncommon thing.

Carriers don't schedule flights with the number 13 and the number is even banned from being a row on board aircrafts. Other numbers that are banned are 666 and 911.

Many airlines also retire the flight numbers of planes after they crash.
