British Transport Police are searching for a man in a wheelchair who sexually assaulted a woman on a train in Glasgow.

The man in question grabbed the 44-year-old victim as she was about to leave the Glasgow Exhibition Centre to Lanark service at Uddington station at about 22:50 on Friday evening, reports the Scotsman.

British Transport Police have appealed for information about the incident. Police are also reviewing CCTV from the stations and on the train as part of the investigation.

Detective Constable David Merchant said: "This was an extremely unsavoury and unwarranted attack and I am appealing for anyone who can provide information which can help identify the man in the wheelchair responsible to come forward.

"This was a very busy service with people returning from a sell-out concert at the Hydro and supporters travelling home after the Scotland and Republic of Ireland match at Celtic Park."

According to the BBC, the suspect is described as being aged in his mid 30s, of medium build and with short dark hair. He was wearing a cream top and jeans.
