The story is reminiscent of the moment commuters helped rescue a man stuck between a train and a platform - by lifting the train off him.

The man was boarding train at a Perth station about 8.50am when he slipped and got his leg stuck in the gap between the train and the platform.

Despite it being a busy time of the morning, scores of commuters quickly came to his aid.

Passengers and station staff tilted the carriage so that the man could free his leg, which was wedged in the gap.
