Young elephant attacked by 14 lions (video)

A young elephant was attacked by 14 lionesses in Zambia after getting separated from its herd.

Helpless Hercules was outnumbered by the 14-member pride at Chinzombo Camp, but the brave elephant managed to fend off the predators, despite having three lionesses on his back at one point.

Tourists on a game drive with The Luxury Safari Company captured the extraordinary sight on a sunset safari.

The little elephant beat the odds and fought back, getting away unscathed.

"In the many years I have been a safari guide in Zambia at the South Luangwa, never have I seen anything like this," said Innocent, a safari guide at Chinzombo.

"We were all so worried the elephant would be killed right before us. What a fighter. It fought off all 14 lions. Incredible."

A few years back, a tourist on safari in Botswana caught the dramatic moment a greedy crocodile was taught a lesson when it attempted to grab an elephant's trunk.

The elephant was quenching its thirst at the Chobe River when the crocodile leapt from the water to try its luck at a rather large dinner.

Fortunately, the elephant wasn't giving in without a fight, and managed to slam-dunk the crocodile off its trunk.
