Rainbow lights up Tower of London poppies exhibition
A beautiful rainbow lit up the sky over the Tower of London's stunning poppy installation on Monday.
The exhibition, which was created for the centenary of the First World War, features 888,246 handmade ceramic poppies to represent every British and colonial life lost.
According to the Mirror, the rainbow appeared as children from the Ark All Saints School in Camberwell performed poems and sang renditions of I Vow To Thee My Country and When This Lousy War Is Over.
It was recently reported that there have been calls to extend the exhibition, called Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, to honour all those that fell in WWI.
According to the Evening Standard, mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "The poppy field at the Tower is a unique and poignant focus of remembrance in this centenary year.
"It has grown rapidly in popularity, to such an extent that it is now a global visitor attraction.
"I'm keen to explore whether we can keep the exhibition open for longer, to give as many people as possible the chance to glimpse something so incredible, whilst easing the pressure on numbers."
Over 8,000 volunteers will start dismantling the installation on 12 November, the day after Armistice Day.
Teams of volunteers worked to create the poppies under ceramic artist Paul Cummins in Derby.
Mr Cummins recently spoke out about how he has been "overwhelmed" by the response to the installation.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph about George Osborne's decision to cut VAT on the post-exhibition selling of the poppies for charity, he said: "I'm really pleased, I first heard about it a few weeks ago.
"It's become a massive worldwide project...I didn't realise it would catch on so well and catch people's imagination."
Up to four million people are expected to have visited the installation before it is dismantled this week.
