A British Airways flight attendant ended up in hospital needing nine stitches after a colleague smashed a glass in his face.

The men had reportedly got into a row over whether to strike about low pay and work conditions while out at the Dusk Till Dawn nightclub in Hong Kong's Wan Chai district last month, reports the Mirror.

The men were both staying at the nearby five-star Harbour Grand Hotel during stop-overs.

One of the men believed a strike was necessary while the other disagreed, and the row boiled over into a fight.

The victim of the alleged glassing attack was rushed to hospital and needed £5,000 worth of treatment.

British Airways is investigating the incident.

According to the Mirror, under current BA contracts, main cabin crew start on £11,000 a year, which goes up to £20,000 after 12 years of service.

Overseas trips can boost earnings by around £5,000.

In September 2012, a British airways pilots was suspended following a drunken fight in a Rio bar during a stopover between flights.

The Sunreports that the captain and first officer hadn't been getting on after a difficult landing, but the situation escalated later at the hotel bar and punches were thrown.

One of the pilots was immediately suspended.

In July 2012, a British Airways steward, Jean-Paul Ven der Velde, whose father survived two Nazi concentration camps, was dismissed after claims he headbutted a colleague who told him "the Jews deserved it".

The row began in New York bar the Pig and Whistle during a stopover on 6 March, 2010.

Ven der Velde, who had worked for BA for 17 years, said he was talking to a colleague called Paul Meek about his background when he became "aggressive" and launched into an anti-Semitic tirade.

More recently, in August 2014, a fist fight between a pilot and a cabin crew member caused a Saudi Arabian Airlines plane to be grounded for six hours.

According to Arabian Business, a verbal argument between the pilot and a cabin crew member turned violent and the pilot sustained an eye injury and had to be taken to hospital.

The steward was treated at the airport for hand injuries.

The passenger plane was evacuated and grounded for 6 hours after the argument.
