Tesco delivery driver panned for 'worst parking ever'
Supermarket giant Tesco has come in for criticism from residents of Cambridge, after one of its delivery drivers caused a potentially dangerous obstruction with his poor parking.
The fully-liveried delivery van, which is an increasingly common site on residential streets, was spotted parked on double yellow lines, across a set of traffic lights, blocking visibility of a nearby pedestrian crossing.
The vehicle was also left close to the corner of a junction, further hindering visibility for both motorists and pedestrians.
Barry Todd, 50, photographed the van outside his home and told Cambridge News it was "possibly the worst parking I have seen".
He continued: "It was parked on the pavement and on double yellow lines as well as being on the pedestrian crossing, across the traffic lights and on the corner, not to mention it blocking the road.
"When I asked the driver if she intended parking there she looked at me as if I had two heads and then carried on unloading the shopping.
"It was really dangerous. I called Tesco head office and spoke to someone for 23 minutes."
Tesco has now launched an investigation into the incident, and is taking action to prevent its drivers from parking dangerously in the future.
A spokesman for the supermarket said: "We were concerned to hear about this and are investigating.
"All our drivers receive thorough training and we expect the highest standards.
"We will be taking steps to ensure this does not happen again."
