If you're looking for holiday ideas for November, you're going to be spoilt for choice- not least because of the plethora of bargains that kick in before the Christmas rush (when holiday prices in many places will more than triple). Whether you're hoping for a blast of winter sun, a spot of snowman-building or a city break in Europe, you'll find something to your liking.
If it's decent temperatures you're after, mid-haul destinations such as North Africa and the Canary Islands are a good bet. These are still pleasantly balmy and at this time of year they're relatively crowd-free. For guaranteed sunbathing, though, it has to be long-haul - you can pick up some good deals to the Caribbean (which has just waved goodbye to the hurricane season) and the Indian Ocean, where the monsoons have now abated.
Of course, November is also the moment to go on a shopping expedition (how many shopping days are there left before Christmas?). The USA is a good spot to indulge, particularly as the pound is still fairly strong against the dollar. You can also catch the early Christmas markets across the continent towards the end of the month: a short break to Germany or northern France will get you into the festive spirit and you'll be able to pick up some great pressies at the same time.
Meanwhile, ski fanatics can dust off their salopettes and find some jolly good bargains. The higher the resort, the more chance of decent snowfall - there are some thrilling descents to be enjoyed even this early in the season.
