Brit shot dead in bar in Brazil
A British man has been killed during a robbery at a bar in Brazil after attempting to negotiate with gunmen, according to reports.
The man, named locally as Jason Richard Stevens, was understood to be working in the city of Sao Paulo as a translator. Words:PA
Mr Stevens attempted to speak to one of the two robbers who then shot him, local media reported.
The two assailants are believed to have fled the scene in a getaway vehicle driven by a third man.
Mr Stevens was taken to hospital but died of his injuries. No one has yet been arrested.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We can confirm the death of a British national on October 22 in Brazil. We have offered consular assistance to the family at this difficult time."
