World's tallest building opens world's highest observation deck

The world's highest observation deck has been opened at the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, in Dubai.

Daredevil tourists can now pay to catch a ride up to the 148th floor of the 2,717ft skyscraper.

The deck is 1,821ft above street level, making it officially the world's highest observation deck according to the Guinness World Records, reports the Daily Mail.

According to Fox News, before the opening of the new deck, visitors could go to the still-operational deck on the 124th floor, which 1.9 million tourists chose to do last year.

The Telegraph reports that trips up to the new deck don't come cheap. It will set you back 400 Dirham (£68) if you book in advance, and 500 Dirham (£85) if you turn up on the day.

During the trip, visitors can listen to an audio guide about the Burj Khalifa's construction and there are also three shopping boutiques too.

The Telegraph adds that the building has already hit a number of 'world's highest' records, including the world's highest nightclub (on the 144th floor), and the world's highest restaurant (on the 122nd floor). It also boats the second highest swimming pool in the world (on the 76th floor).
