World's largest cruise ship docks in UK for first time
Royal Caribbean International's Oasis of the Seas - the world's largest cruise ship - has made it's UK debut in Southampton.
Captain Tryn Selvag says the sheer size of the ship made it challenging to bring the Oasis of the Seas to Southampton.
The arrival of the ship is expected to bring £500,000,000 into the local economy.
Every time a cruise line goes into Southampton, about £90 per person is spent in the local area.
Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas, the newest and most innovative cruise ship, will also be stopping in Southampton in the coming weeks.
Stuart Leven, UK and Ireland MD at Royal Caribbean International believes this is going to completely redefine how people holiday from the UK.
Its sister ship, Anthem of the Seas will also be based in Southampton next summer.
