A large black creature, believed to be the Huttock Top Beast, has been filmed chasing a chicken at a farm in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

Farm owner Wendy Wright says she reported the sighting to police after the 'beast' killed a chicken.

CCTV footage of the creature has been released and shows the chicken on the farm and a black animal coming towards it.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News, Wendy said: "One of our chickens went missing, so I told my husband to check the CCTV.

"All of a sudden it shows this huge black animal come up and jump over the back wall."

She said the animal just "grabbed" the chicken.

"It was a strange looking animal, it looked like a monkey - higher at the front than the back," Wendy added.

Last week, the Daily Mirror reported that a dog walker had been "stalked" by the creature near Rochdale.

Stewart Lord was out with his wife walking their Staffordshire bull terrier when he saw the "big cat the size of an Alsatian" just 100 yards from him.

The puma-like Huttock Top Beast has been spotted a number of times over the years.

It was first sighted in 2008 when a woman was walking her pug.

Emma Ashworth was walking along a lane in Bacup, nine miles from the recent sightings.

She told Rossendale Free Press: "I saw this black cat; It had that really distinctive way of walking that cats have but it was about the size of a big dog.

"I was scared to death. I walked up the lane a bit and looked into the field but I couldn't see anything; it was raining, an awful day, but I wanted to get away in case it came back and ate my dog – or me."
