A British holidaymaker has been left with a potentially lethal virus after teenagers copied a scene from the new Inbetweeners movie - and defacated in her Spanish hotel swimming pool.

Zara Farrant, 36, is bed-ridden with severe stomach pains after the youths carried out the stunt, known as 'logging', as seen in the film.

The mum-of-two, who had been on holiday with her partner and children, became seriously ill when she returned to her Kent home from the holiday.

Doctors warned her she could be ill for up to six months after catching cryptosporidium, a waterborne virus that comes from human faeces and can cause kidney failure.

Speaking to the Mirror, she said: "It's disgusting. I can't believe anyone would want to do that.

"The pool was closed for hours at a time while staff removed the offending items and cleaned the pool.

"I am still ill now and this diagnosis has really got me down."

Zara has decided to take action against her holiday firm, First Choice.

Solicitor Nick Harris said: "This horrifically disgusting behaviour of deliberately pooing in pools has taken off this summer.

"Regrettably I have been contacted by dozens of holidaymakers reporting these so called 'Code Brown' or 'logging' incidents."

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he added: "We have dealt with hundreds of cases where people have been left seriously ill. Some idiots think it is humorous to deliberately poo in a crowded pool and then sit back and watch the carnage unfold as people try to escape the pool like a panic scene from the film Jaws.

"We have seen cases where people have had to have their bowels removed due to catching serious infections form people going in the pool."

Back in August, the issue became such a problem at a resort in Egypt that staff at the Holiday Village Red Sea threatened guests with eviction and a £1,400 fine for pooping in the pool.
