Tennis champion Maria Sharapova has tweeted a random plane passenger after she saw him reading a story about her in a newspaper.

The tennis star had boarded the plane shortly after being knocked out of the Wuhan Open in China by Swiss player Timea Bacsinszky.

She noticed that there was a man in front of her reading a newspaper story about her, so she took a photo of him and tweeted: "Hey buddy, I'm right behind you...".

Apparently unaware that the star was sitting behind him, Twitter is now abuzz trying to find out who the passenger was.

Many are also asking questions, including why Sharapova would ever travel in economy class. One follower said 'Won't being in coach ruin your knees?!
