Planes collide in air over Bedfordshire: Pilot killed
A pilot has been killed after two single-seater planes collided in mid-air in Bedfordshire, police have confirmed.
Air Accidents Investigation Branch is investigating the plane crash, which happened over farmland near Tempsford, Bedfordshire, near the Black Cat roundabout, at about 8.30am today.
One male pilot was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other aircraft was able to land safely at Thurleigh airfield, Bedfordshire Police said.
A force spokesman said: "One of the aircraft was able to carry on flying and land safely at Thurleigh airfield, but the other has crashed.
"Emergency services are on the scene and the AAIB has been notified and are on the way to Bedfordshire."
