Actor Rowan Atkinson crashed his car at the Goodwood Revival on Saturday when another race participant lost control of their car.

The Mr Bean star, 59, was driving his blue Ford Falcon Sprint in the Shelby Cup when the driver two cars ahead spun off the track, the Daily Telegraph reports.

As the car in front of Atkinson swerved to avoid collision, the comedian crashed head on.

He was lucky to escape without injury and abandoned his classic car.

The Daily Mail reports that it is not the first time Atkinson has been involved in a crash. In 2011, he crashed his McLaren F1 into a tree after it veered off the A605 near Peterborough. The car burst into flames and Atkinson was left with a broken shoulder.

In May this year, the actor helped save the day when a McLaren driver crashed into a tree in Tuscany, Italy.

The Blackadder star was part of a convoy of motor enthusiasts driving behind the US businessman, before he careered off the road and hit a tree.

The driver lost control of the red and white vehicle as the convoy was moving between the towns of Saline di Volterra and Pomarance.

Atkinson immediately rushed to the aid of the man, who was airlifted to a hospital in Pisa with non life-threatening injuries.

The Shelby Cup celebrated 60 years of the small-block V8 engine. Atkinson is often pictured at the race track during its famous festivals and owns several classic cars, including a Jaguar Mk7, an Aston Martin DB2, a 1939 BMW 328 and a Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe.
