A woman dressed as a zombie gave coastguards a huge fright when they found her covered in blood with her clothes in pieces after a cliff fall.

However they were relieved to find she was not actually seriously injured, and was gorily made up to take part in an organised zombie event.

Tracy, 37, from Bridgend, had fallen off a cliff edge while she was pitching a tent at the 'Zombie Survival Weekender' on Sully Island in South Wales.

Accoring to the Mirror, she said: "I was covered in blood and looked like something out of a horror film.

"I'm just lucky I wasn't seriously injured, I could have easily become one of the undead."

Tracy was airlifted to hospital where she was treated for a cracked rib and some bruising.

Unfortunately, the incident meant the Pirates vs Zombies event, in which participants paid £65 to dress as pirates and search for treasure while hordes of the undead hunted them, was called off.

Organiser Dom Spens told the Daily Mail: 'Zombie Survival Weekender is a physically challenging, testing, full-on experience. We have done well over the past four years not to have any serious accidents or incidents.

"Tracy was airlifted from the island and we met her at hospital. She had her head glued and other than a cracked rib and some bruising she will be fine.

"Tracy is very lucky to have gotten off so lightly. I hope she has a speedy recovery."

Tracy is now looking forward to the next event at Halloween.

Zombie survival events are becoming increasingly popular. Just last weekend, more than 2,000 people took part in the 'Survival Zombie' event, which simulated a zombie apocalypse hitting a small Spanish town.

Players roamed the streets of Collado Villalba near Madrid trying to elude people dressed as zombies, who had been infected by a virus.

According to the BBC, the rules were simple: you're eliminated from the game if one of the "un-dead" characters touched you between 11pm and 07.30am local time.
