Jackass star Steve-O facing police probe over 'SeaWorld Sucks' sign

Jackass star Steve-O could face criminal charges after defacing a public sign for SeaWorld in San Diego and changing it to 'SeaWorld Sucks'.

A video titled 'Breaking The Law' was posted by the daredevil on YouTube and captioned: "Be an awesome person by sharing this video with the hashtag #SeaWorldSucks and wish me luck with the law!"

In the video he is seen climbing a pole to a maintenance platform beneath the huge road sign and covering the word 'Drive' with 'Sucks'.

He then faces the camera and says: "If doing that was wrong, I don't want to be right. Screw you, SeaWorld!"

The stunt performer also posted the video on Instagram and wrote: "I filmed myself committing a crime in the middle of California's 5 Freeway. It took me five tries to finish the job-- here's one of them-- the rest of the video is on http://youtube.com/steveo -- it might not last long on there, so hurry up and check it out now. #SeaWorldSucks #yeahdude #steveo".

According to New York Daily News, a California Department of Transportation statement read: "We consider defacing public property at a cost to state taxpayers an unlawful act and a dangerous distraction for motorists."

Speaking to TMZ, Steve-O said: "Go ahead and charge me, Sea World Sucks!"

Steve-O is an animal rights activist who has campaigned for PETA. In an interview with the organisation, he once said: "Abuse yourself all you want - just leave animals out of it."
