Vomiting passengers force plane to be quarantined in Edinburgh Airport

A Jet2 plane was quarantined at Edinburgh Airport on Tuesday afternoon after four passengers fell ill as the flight landed from Budapest in Hungary.

One of the sick travellers was taken to hospital while the others remained on the flight.

A spokeswoman for low-cost airline Jet2 confirmed the incident and told Edinburgh Evening News: "Four passengers on the LS788 Budapest flight became unwell on landing at Edinburgh Airport today and are now receiving the necessary medical care.

"The remaining passengers currently have to remain on board to fill out a form for the Port Health Authority. This is a routine procedure in case they need to be contacted."

In November last year, an aircraft was quarantined in France after passengers showed symptoms of the H1N1 virus, commonly known as swine flu.

The low-cost Hop flight, a subsidiary of Air France, landed at Blagnac airport from Nice with 47 passengers coughing and spluttering, while others showed signs of fever.

When questioned by flight attendants, it emerged that all passengers had returned from a trip to Bangkok in Thailand, via Dubai.

Local media reported that the scene resembled "something out of a disaster movie".

Concerned French authorities decided to quarantine the plane on the runway when it arrived at Blagnac airport.
