A British holidaymaker has died while on holiday with friends in Ibiza.

Lewis Robertson, 20, from Larkhall, in Lanarkshire, Scotland, passed away on Monday, but police are still investigating the cause of his death.

The Foreign Office said it is providing consular assistance "at this difficult time".

According to the Evening Times, a spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that we are aware of the death of a British national in San Antonio in Ibiza on 11 August."

Friends have taken to Facebook to write tributes to their friend and messages of condolence.

The Daily Record reports that Emma Anderson wrote: "Rest in peace wee Lewi. Absolutely devastating news. Thoughts are with all the friends and family and everyone over in Ibiza."

Another friend Paige Easton said: "In shock. Feel completely numb as if it's all a bad dream."

According to news.stv.tv, Robertson had been waiting with friends for another group of Scots to join them on holiday this week.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place soon.
