McLaren to unveil bespoke models at Pebble Beach show

Bespoke McLaren P1McLaren

If a standard McLaren P1 isn't exclusive enough for you, fear not, the people at McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division can help. The newly created team specialises in making McLaren cars unique, rather than simply very very rare, and is revealing a one-off version of the P1 plus MSO's new 650S Spider at this year's Pebble Beach show.
Three years after launching at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance show itself, MSO returns to the California motoring event later this month, reports Autocar. Commissioned by a north American buyer, the P1 set to be shown features a host of bespoke options and serves as a showcase of what MSO can do, while the MSO 650S Spider is one of just 50 special models to be built.

The unique P1 stands out from the other 170 examples of this 904bhp, 217mph hyper-hybrid with exclusive sterling grey paintwork, body colour alloy wheels, a gloss carbon-fibre bumper and orange details. Adding a bit of extra glitz to the car are 24-carat gold heatshields around the engine bay and exhaust, in homage to McLaren's iconic F1 supercar.

The interior is finished off with carbon-fibre trim plus alcantara racing seats fitted with four-point harnesses. Orange accents feature across the centre console too, tying together the exterior and interior of the car, while nickel-finished air vents mimic the exhaust finisher.

The MSO 650S Spider appearing at the show is one of just 50 to receive styling tweaks including satin-finished carbon-fibre on the front bumper, air intakes and rear diffuser, plus a zingy blue paint finish and 10-spoke super lightweight alloy wheels.

The interior of the MSO Spider is trimmed in carbon black leather with blue stitching, extending across the seats, steering wheel, dash and doors. The upward opening "dihedral" doors, carbon-fibre sills and satin-lacquered carbon-fibre trim across the cabin help the car stand out. It also comes with a handcrafted "carbon-fibre leather" holdall.

McLaren is also unveiling the P1 GTR design concept at the Pebble Beach Lodge on August 15.
