Boy on fishing trip drops iPhone overboard, drains pond to find it

One schoolboy on a fishing trip in Germany went to extremes to find his iPhone after dropping it over board - by draining the entire pond.

When bosses at the angling club refused to let him look for it using a diving suit, he went back in the middle of the night and set up a powerful pump to try and drain the pond, which housed thousands of fish.

The Mirror reports that he placed two enormous hoses in the pond and started to direct the water into the angling club toilet.

However, the toilet was not attached to the sewage system and the water overflowed into the club car park.

The bizarre plan came to an end when the owner discovered the hoses, pump, and flooded car park and called the police.

According to the Metro, he told a local paper in Cologne: "I thought two pumps would drain enough of the water from the pond so I could find my cellphone.

"I knew the phone was probably dead but wanted to get the data card back with the numbers, pictures and videos of my friends. It almost worked."

The boy was ordered to pay for the damage to the toilet, the clean-up operation, ad the extra water that had to go back in the pond.

And he never did get his phone back.
