'Spoilt' baby deer loves belly rubs, refuses to be put down (video)
A baby deer enjoyed having its belly rubbed so much that it refused to be put down by its new human friend.
The cute fawn was found by powerline worker Justin Lewis and his colleague who had been felling trees when they spotted the wild animal in the fall path, The Huffington Post reports.
Lewis, from Kentucky, USA, uploaded the video on YouTube and wrote: "My buddy and I were clearing a right of way for the electric lines and came across this fawn trapped in the fall path of the tree we were about to trim. He was tangled in some thorns and was pretty shaken up after we cut him loose, so we started rubbing his belly to calm him down.... which worked a little too well, as you can see.
The wild deer was comforted by Lewis' belly rubs and "freaked out" every time he tried to put it down.
Lewis said: "He followed us around the job site like a lost puppy for about an hour until I noticed a doe watching us from the hillside. Assuming this was his mother, I carried him about halfway up the hill while she watched attentively. I sat him down, he ran straight to her, and they walked off together."
The video has been viewed over 1.3 million times on YouTube.
In the UK, the RSPCA advises people not to touch baby deer if they are spotted alone. It says: "Fawns are normally left alone from an early age for long periods of time but mother will return to feed them, usually around dusk. Watch from a distance to see if mum returns."
