A waiter at a posh restaurant in Barbados has been suspended for two weeks - after taking a a photograph with Manchester United star Robin van Persie.

The Dutch footballer was dining with his wife and two children at the Cliff Restaurant while on holiday when waiter - and huge fan - Kyson Forde asked for a picture.

But the move got Kyson, and a friend who took the photo, suspended for breaking rules about using mobiles in the dining area.

According to the Daily Mail, a source said: "Maybe Kyson shouldn't have bothered RVP when he was out for a meal, but it seems an over-reaction.

"Kyson is a massive Man U fan and this was his one chance to get a snap with his hero."

Van Persie has been relaxing in the Caribbean with wife Bouchra, son Shaqueel, eight, and daughter, Dina, five, after guiding Holland through to finish third place at the World Cup in Brazil.

The £250,0000-a-week star treated his family to a stay at the luxury Sandy Lane resort, where Simon Cowell heads off for a Christmas break every year.

A source told the Mirror that Kyson had worked at the restaurant for around four years, adding: "He's seen famous people in there before, and when Van Persie came in he couldn't resist the chance of a snap.

"He's a nice guy and loves his job, so he's gutted he's been suspended."
