Corrie actress caught parking in disabled bay by co-star
Coronation Street's David Platt is known for being a fiery character onscreen, but actor Jack P Shepherd may be equally fearless about causing controversy off screen – after tweeting a picture of a co-star's car parked in a disabled parking space.
Shepherd named and shamed actress Catherine Tyldesley by tweeting a photo of her black Mercedes parked in a disabled bay to his 281,000 followers. Tyldesley's Mercedes CLA had been parked in a clearly labelled disabled space, outside Granada's studios in Salford Quays, Greater Manchester.
Shepherd, who plays hairdresser David Platt in ITV's Coronation Street, tweeted on Wednesday: "In other news @Cath_Tyldesley's car is in a disabled space at work". Following this tweet 30-year-old Tyldesley is reported to have received online abuse, writes the Daily Mirror, with some calling her a "disgrace" and her behaviour "shameful". One riled fan branded her a "blue badge abuser".
Sources at Coronation Street said that Tyldesley, who plays glamorous Eva Price in the soap, was upset after discovering that 26-year-old Shepherd had tweeted this photo of her car.
One Granada staff member said: "Cath is never off Twitter but after Jack posted the snap of her car in the disabled bay she stayed surprisingly quiet – possibly seething, we are told. If Jack was up to his usual mischief then it looks to have worked. People are saying 'watch this space' as to what will happen next and whether there will be retaliation!"
This source added: "People are pretty sure Catherine's car won't be seen in one of those bays again."
