Another modest boost for the FTSE 100 on Monday, climbing 55.9 points to 6,746.1. Sports Direct International shares saw the biggest forward spurt, up 3.58% to 723p, helped by news it was expanding Down Under. Petrofac and Johnson Matthey saw 3.19% and 2.83% gains respectively though easyJet was buffeted 1.74% down, to 1244p.

In the US, the Dow Jones picked up 111.6 points, vaulting back across the 17,000 threshold to 17,055.4 thanks in part to better earnings from Citigroup.
