Heatwave! Temps could soar to 30C next week

Many parts of the UK have seen a series of downpours and localised flooding over the last few days.

There was even snow on one street in Poole, Dorset, this week after a heavy hailstorm hit.

So Brits will be relieved to hear there's some respite on the way, and a 30C-degree heatwave looks set to hit the south next week.

Forecaster at The Weather Channel, Leon Brown, said that while there is still some more rain to contend with, it will get nice and balmy next week.

He told Aol Travel: "There will be some heavy rainfall events in the coming days, but it will become hot late next week in the south.

"It will be warm and humid at first this weekend with temperatures in the mid 20s on Saturday. Some heavy showers will develop in eastern England though with a risk of thunder in the afternoon. More than 20mm in parts of East Anglia in an hour and local flash flood risk.

"Rain will move east on Saturday night and Sunday morning followed by much fresher weather over western Britain, temperatures in the west will be 17C to 19C. We could see some heavy downpours again though across the Midlands to eastern England in the middle of the day and afternoon. Around 10mm to 20mm is possible, and locally 20mm to 30mm in East Anglia, so again a risk of flooding. Temperatures will be down to the lower 20s in south east England on Sunday."

But, here's the good bit: "Next week it does look like the warmest or hottest spell of weather for the year so far will arrive over southern Britain as we import some heat from southern Europe.

"Wednesday to Thursday will see temperatures in the high 20s and somewhere in the south could reach 30C."

He added: "The high temperatures may well end with some thunderstorms late next week though."
