Video: The ultimate police convoy
The people of Yorkshire enjoyed their time in the spotlight over the weekend when the cyclists taking part in this year's Tour de France rode from Leeds to Harrogate in the first stage of the epic race.
But the cyclists themselves weren't the only ones on two wheels – as this fascinating video shows. Dozens of French motorcycle police were drafted in to help things go smoothly.
Apparently arriving on a ferry that docked in Hull, they were treated to an impressive turnout from their British counterparts, who provided them with an escort along the M62 from Hull to Leeds so they could carry out their duties.
Quite an arresting sight (sorry), we're sure you'll agree. And it may well be repeated in future, with the UK-based 'Grand Depart' of this year's tour being hailed a huge success.
Asked if the event would be returning to the UK anytime soon, race director Christian Prudhomme told the BBC: "Yes. The question is not if, but when. It was unbelievable. Merci beaucoup."
