A passenger has died on board an Air New Zealand flight from Auckland to London.

Flight NZ2 had to land in Los Angeles on 4 July after the passenger, thought to be in her 50s, passed away mid-flight.

One passenger, Allister Homes, tweeted that the flight had been delayed in Los Angeles.

"Our flight from LAX was delayed because sadly a passenger died on board the aircraft on the way to LAX."

According to the Daily Mail, a female paramedic who happened to be on the flight tried to revive her for an hour and a half with crew members, to no avail.

The plane was then on the tarmac for around two hours as the crew waited for a coroner's van to arrive.

It is thought the woman was on holiday with her husband.

According to Stuff.co.nz, an Air New Zealand spokeswoman confirmed a passenger had died on board the NZ2 flight on 4 July, and said: "Normal process was followed and the coroner was notified."
