Private island off coast of Sardinia goes up for sale
If you've ever dreamed of owning your own private island, now is your chance: Isola di Mal Ventre, a few miles off the north east coat of Sardinia, has just gone on the the market for a mere €1.5 million.
The 200 acre Mediterranean island comes complete with white sand beaches, coves of pure quartz, beautiful flora and fauna, crystal clear waters and a watering well.
There are no buildings, but the sellers believe that the foundations of a previous shepherd's dwelling on the island, which has been inhabited on and off since the Roman times, could be incorporated in the design of a modern villa. According to a local architect, it's perfectly primed for a low rise eco style villa which would create one of the most unique properties in the Mediterranean. It may also be possible to construct a jetty from which trips to the mainland could be made by boat.
Barely 130 miles from the fashionable resort of Porto Cervo (pictured below), where even a modest house could set you back over €10 million, the island is a bit of a bargain, no?
