Toyota has refreshed its Yaris supermini, updating the car's looks and model structure. Prices start from £10,995, rising to £17,695.> The most obvious revision to the compact hatchback is the adoption of Toyota's latest design theme, including an 'X' style design linking the front grille and headlamps, which was first seen on the new Aygo city car.

However, the biggest changes come to the model structure, which has been broadened to include two new trim levels in a bid to increase the car's appeal in the UK.

Buyers will now be able to choose from four model grades: Active, Icon, Sport and Excel. Entry-level Active models are sparsely equipped, though are fitted with electric front windows, a six-speaker audio system with USB connectivity, traction control and tyre pressure monitor.

Move up to Icon trim and the Yaris becomes much more appealing, being fitted with 15-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, rear-view camera, Bluetooth connectivity, a leather wrapped steering wheel and Toyota's Touch 2 multimedia and infotainment system.

Sport and Excel trim add further niceties such as LED daytime running lights, rear LED lights, 16-inch alloys and DAB digital radio amongst others.

Customers can also further personalise their cars with a number of options packs ranging from £350-£750.

The Yaris' engine line-up is carried over unchanged, with the choice of 1.0 and 1.33-litre petrols, a 1.4-litre diesel and 1.5-litre petrol hybrid.

Order books are open now, with the first customer cars expected for delivery in August.
