There was chaos for commuters during the Friday rush-hour after a tour bus burst into flames on the A40 westbound at White City.

Pictures emerged of the bus at around 6pm, not far from the Westfield shopping centre.

According to London24.com, the London Fire Brigade attended the scene and nobody was injured.

A number of Twitter users shared pics of the scene online, with one user, Danielle Wood, writing: "Bus on fire on A40!"

The A40 Westway was closed both ways between the A3220/Northern Roundabout and Old Oak Road/Savoy Circus, causing long queues in each direction.

Speaking to the BBC, a spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said the bus was destroyed in the fire, and the 20 firefighters were sent to deal with the blaze.

It is not yet known what caused the fire on the coach, which belonged to Golden Tours.

According to the Daily Telegraph, last June, a bus from the same company caught fire on the M4 in west London.
