A passenger on a Cathay Pacific flight from New Jersey to Hong Kong got his finger caught in the toilet bin.

The 32-year-old American man was forced to spend part of the 15-hour flight standing alone in the plane toilet.

According to the Daily Mail, the man got his finger stuck more than an hour before landing at Chek Lap Kok Airport and flight attendants had no other option but to leave him standing in the bathroom during landing.

"An initial investigation showed that he threw trash into a rubbish bin inside the toilet, but his middle finger was accidentally stuck in the bin," a police officer said.

The South China Morning Post reports that when the plane landed in Hong Kong, the pilot called police for help with the situation. Firemen were called on board but before they arrived the passenger managed to free himself.

"An initial examination showed there were no apparent injuries on his finger. He did not require hospital treatment or examination," a police officer said.

The passenger continued his journey.
