A man aboard the yacht was pulled to safety and taken to hospital, but a woman is still missing. The yacht sank soon after the collision.
A lifeboat continued searching throughout the night and more boats went to help this morning, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said.
A spokesman said: "Further rescue resources have joined in the search again this morning, including a coastguard search and rescue helicopter and two lifeboats - one from Harwich and the other from Walton."
